Taiwan: Sun Moon Lake

As promised, here is part two of our Taiwanese adventure.

A few days before we left, Nick and I decided to take an overnight getaway to Sun Moon Lake, an area about four hours away from Tamsui where we were staying.

I wish I could tell you that this baby trip was perfectly romantic, like a dream, but life never seems to go that smoothly, right? I started feeling really sick about an hour out from the lake. We got to our Airbnb in the early evening, and I didn’t get out of bed until the next morning. If you know me, this is laughable because without fail I get sick when I travel. Thankfully Nick explored the town on behalf of both of us that evening (and brought me an ice cream bar) and I was feeling significantly better by the morning. *ice cream heals*

The afternoon called for exploration! We rented electric bikes, making me feel like the laziest human on the island, but they were SO MUCH FUN, you guys. We “biked” around the lake, making a few stops — my favorite being a wooden pathway through a forest. The flights of stairs seemed to go forever. We also stumbled upon a beautiful temple. All of the epic water / palm tree shots you’ll see below were taken at the temple…too. much. beauty.

For now I must be going. Talk soon, friends!

p.s. If you want to lose sleep tonight, Google “cane spider.” There was one in our shower after we got back from the bike ride…….I didn’t end up taking a shower.
