This wedding season is making rethink everything about where I got married… or maybe it’s just that Mike and Florie said “I do” in a nuptial paradise, aka Big Sur.
My favorite part of the day: Mike and Florie’s first look. We went into the Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park (which we almost got kicked out of, but goodness, it was worth it) for a moment with the redwoods. Nick and Mike had gone ahead of Florie and I to post up. Nick ran out to move our car to the street, and during that time, Florie asked me if she could go into the forest by herself with no cameras to surprise Mike. I LOVED her spontaneity and free spirit in that moment and was more than keen on her plan. With my “permission”, she kicked off her heels, and disappeared into the woods. After a bit, the two emerged together, full of joy and ready to take what may forever be some of my favorite portraits.
Everything about this wedding was wonderful — it was intimate and personal. Florie’s taste is impeccable. Each detail was a clear reflection of her simple, yet sophisticated style. I’m still thinking about Florie’s dress and the floral arrangements that she and her bridesmaids carried. Also Mike’s rad custom made suit! Yes’s all around.
Of course, it’s always the best to spend the day with a couple who is truly in love. Mike and Florie were no exception. They danced late into the night with friends and family, laughing and celebrating the start of life together.
Here’s to you, Mike and Florie!
For now I must be going. Talk soon, friends!
